ME and MY Future – A Pecha Kucha

This year’s Senior Current Class entered the realm of Pecha Kucha.  Elephants have souls.  Praise the Lord.

The Assignment…ME and My Future (A Pecha Kucha).  Counts as a 100 point assignment for MP #6 and 50% of your Final Exam.  Please go here for available sign up times.   Go here for a reminder of what makes a good Pecha Kucha.

And so, lets stick with it…and use the format for one last SCI Assignment.  A Pecha Kucha video – from you to you.  You know the Pecha-Kucha-Posterformat – 20 slides for 20 seconds.  You know that less is more, and that if you talk instead of read from note cards, that your production flows.  You know the subject for God’s sake.  IT’S YOU!

The future is a path – not a place.  Yours is so filled with possibilities.  Lay out some of them in this assignment. Continue reading

How long do we, do you, put up with it?

The Final Stretch in Senior Current Issues – 2014

Guys – Please Please Please Please Please – look long and hard at the Building A Better World Scholarship (due Friday May 16) Rich MCarthy Scholarship and Tia Peterson Scholarship (due Friday May 9).  This is good money.  It’s home grown.  Somebody in the senior PKclass will win.  Why not you?

OK…here we go guys.  We got a three week stretch run – until your days at the ole Ridge are over.

A month of African studies in Senior Current Issues runs through May 16.   Since I will be gone from May 5 to May 9, it is imperative that you understand the requirements for all of your Africa assignments and that you contact me via email while I am in D.C. should you have any questions.   You do not have any particular time that you must work on each of the assignments, however  due dates are set – so you need to be aware of them.  Unfortunately we will not have time to present our Digging Deeper –  Pecha Kucha from Africa will be the  big presentation assignment.  So Pecha your Kucha and Kecha your Pucha – and lets get ready to rock. Pecha Kucha – Time for a chit chat on Africa

OK guys – it’s Pecha Kucha Time!  I cannot wait for you to do these things.  The requirement is clear.  The rubric is simple.  The experience for all  involved could be really rich.  And you are the guinea pigs…so lets jump on the wheel and start running.

Presentations – Half the class on Wednesday May 14.  Half the class on Friday May 16.  Finish up on Monday May 19.

First – go here and take a look at all three descriptions of Pecha Kucha.  The first is a video on how to make one.  It’ll provide you some ideas and get you accustomed to the format.    The third youtube video is a college professor’s very clear and very simple screen cast on setting up your Powerpoint for the presentation.  The Powerpoint portion is easy.  The second video/post  is the one I think that will benefit you the most.  It’s by a guy from Chicago, involved in the online world, who loves Pecha Kucha and who has laid out a fabulously valuable little tool to work you through the assignment.  Read it all.  Watch the video.  It will help you tremendously.
