ACT Groups and Mission Statements

Our first ACT assignment in Government class is for students to align themselves with friends who have a common goal. Once you’ve done this you have a couple of tasks. #1, your group must come up with a name. That name should encompass what your group is all about. You also need an acronym which is the initials that spell out your group name. Then we need a mission statement. The mission should answer the question, “Why you exist – or what is your organization’s core focus?

Your mission statement should be:
Short
Memorable
Inspiring
Market focused – who do you serve?
What you want to be remember for…

Finally it should pass the T-shirt test. Would it fit on a T-shirt? Would you wear that T-shirt? Finally, would your staff wear it?

CLOSE UP Participant Fundraiser Guidelines…

Guys this is a big two weeks. We are going to have to be organized and diligent in making these things work. Make sure to read my guidelines page for each of you. Do not forget I need to you send me a google docs Economics Action Plan outlining your involvement in the fundraisers by Thursday night 11:59 PM. Also, we need more donations for our silent auction…get out there and talk with local businesses. Pick up flyers in my room and drop off items as soon as you get them. Finally, spaghetti guys we need food donations for our spaghetti dinner. Get moving!

We can do this if we communicate and work hard. So…keep in touch and work hard and we can make it happen.

CLOSE UP – Fundraiser Updates

OK guys…we got a lot of work to do in the next two weeks. I expect you to be communicating regularly, answering emails, checking remind 101, organizing your groups, and to make sure that you know what your responsibilities are. Everybody is involved in organization of one of four groups. And I expect that all of us have Friday, April 21 open for work on the Spaghetti Dinner. Due Dates and organizational charts below.
