Happy Holidays in Chicago

CHICAGO TRIP SATURDAY DECEMBER 21, 2019

Downtown Chicago in the snow

Hey guys…its the holiday season, which means its time for Senior Current Issues (and all the foreign kids) to make the Christmas trek to Chicago.  Every year we do this…and every year we have a great time!  We meet at OHS Parking Lot  (7:00 AM) We carpool (no student drivers) to Michigan City, Indiana.    And then we take the Southshore line train into the Windy City ($10.25 one way).  It drops us smak dab in the middle of town – directly under Millennium Park. We head up the stairs and scatter.  Go where you want.  Have a great time.  Meet back at the train – the return trip will depend on weather and plans.  We will confirm return time prior to going – so parents will know times before we leave.

The Arab Quarter

Please take a look at my Arab Quarter.

Arab Quarter – Oakridge High School – room #112 – Muskegon, Mi, USA.

The Arab World is one of the most hospitable place I’ve traveled. And I’ve been around the Arab neighborhood. Morocco in 2006. Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine in 2009. Egypt in 2013. And Palestine again for three weeks this summer. Everywhere I’ve been in this part of the world – people have welcomed me with open arms. They are friendly, warm, and extremely knowledgable about the world.

This little Arab Quarter of mine – is dedicated to my Friends from Palestine and open to my students from Oakridge High School. It is my hope that they find the same kind of peace here that I’ve found there.

As Salamou Alyakoum.

Podcast Review Government Exam – “The Amendments”

The Final Exam for Government (2019) will consist of Interpretation of the Bill of Rights, as well as Amendments 13, 14, 15, 19, 26. The exam will be conducted on Schoology.

In regard to the first ten amendments, you will be expected to identify the civil liberty protected, followed by an explanation of that protection. This is what we’ve been doing in class. In regards to the remaining five amendments, identify in paragraph form “in your own words” the purpose of the amendment, protections afforded and reason for its passage.

Please go here to access podcasts summarizing each of the Constitutional Amendments required on the Final Exam.
