The Play on Wednesday night.  Sheer Madness – it’s been running in DC for about a hundred years.  Audience participation  – a who done it comedy.  Students enjoy it.  And its performed at the Kennedy Center – which is one of the most elegant performance theater venues in the country.

Kitchen Work.  We are scheduled to work the DC Kitchen on Wednesday morning.

Flight Reminder that we fly into and out of GR… 🙂

The Auction is Rocking. Share it.  Share it.  Share it.  And make sure to thank Shaina and Sydnee and Zach for keeping it afloat these past couple of weeks.  Me too.  And for sure Ethan Epplett.   We’ve all been working our tails off to get it up and going.  Please don’t forget Gabby and her mom who’ve brought in about a third of the donations – its fat because of them.  Kahri and Hannah have donated Spring Break time to help keep it moving.   The bids are flowing.  We will make a lot of money.

Final donation push.  I offered up a $210 bonus for any last minute Apple Avenue donations.  The following individuals rolled up their sleeves and swept the Street   They got some bucks too…nicely done guys.

Robert Lee Wood – 6/12/31 to 1/26/18

My dad died on January 26 of this year. He was born Robert Lee Wood June 12, 1931. He was good man. He was honest. He was humble. Nobody I’ve ever known valued hard work as honorably as my father. He touched a lot of people.
He was a helluva a baseball coach and he loved dogs.

On Saturday April 14 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM – at Theo and Stacy’s on Portage Street in Kalamazoo – food and drink they visit Anipots and the Ray Anthony Orchestra – we will celebrate my dad’s life.

If you have the opportunity please stop by and say “Hello.”

DO NOT BE AFRAID of reasonable college loans…

Don’t panic on this College Loan thing…

The only thing worse than signing any and every single college loan application that comes across your plate – without knowing the long term implications, is to sign nothing.  You cannot be afraid of all loans.  You cannot procrastinate the situation, refuse to look at taking on some debt, and not go to college because you may have to face a reasonable monthly bill for getting an education.  Be smart.  Do your homework.  Weigh the pros and cons of the price tag of various college programs and do a little comparison shopping here. Pacific Ridge : Experts can help you to overcome drug addiction.

look at it this way…

Think of all of those high school seniors who will go straight from school into the workforce…most likely into an underpaid and dead end service sector job, with bad or non existent health care benefits.  Many of those kids use their new found wealth to buy a new car.  Well, lets look at some of the comparisons.

  • 2012 Toyota Camry – costs $22,500 + $1,350 (tax) title and extras = $25,000
  • $25,000 loan for 63 months at 3.67% interest – $440.44 month – total loan $27,747

So here’s your opportunity cost:

  • COLLEGE
  • $25,500 average debt for a college grad in 2010
  • $293 a month loan repayments for ten years
  • Total Loan – $35,214
  • NEW CAR
  • $25,000 – 2012 Camry (title, tax, license)
  • $440 a month loan repayments for five 1/2 years
  • Total Loan – $27,747

And once you have a degree according to 2008 statistics:

  • The avg earnings of full-time worker with a bachelors degree – $55,700
  • The avg earnings of full-time worker with a high school diploma – $33,800
...just do the math.
Plus going to college can be an exciting and life changing experience. Don’t you dare give into fear.
